Cataract Cannot Be Prevented with Vitamins
Many scientific studies have been carried out on the development of cataract and the role of vitamins in preventing it, and they have produced differing results.
Many scientific studies have been carried out on the development of cataract and the role of vitamins in preventing it, and they have produced differing results.
The most widely accepted of these studies was carried out by the Age-Related Eye Disease Study Research Group and published in 2001 in Archives of Ophthalmology, one of the world’s most respected eye journals. The study investigated the effects of vitamins C and E and beta-carotene on cataract. According to the study, the vitamins do not slow the development of cataract; no difference in cataract formation was found between people who took them and people who did not.
The effect of herbal supplements on the development of cataract is unknown; there is no scientific study examining whether there is any interaction between herbal supplements and cataract development.
