The most striking feature of cats’ eyes is their slit-shaped pupils. Compared with a round pupil, a pupil of this shape can widen and narrow more quickly according to the amount of incoming light, and can open wider.

Cats see more clearly at night than the human eye, which is a very useful feature for hunting at night.

Cats see purple, blue, green and yellow well, and see red, orange and brown shades less well.
