If you see fully with glasses, your night vision is good and you have no complaints about the quality of your vision, you do not need personalised treatment; standard LASIK will be more than enough for you. Only about 20% of people who come for laser treatment need personalised treatment.

The personalised LASIK treatments are:

Topography-Guided LASIK (based on the corneal map)

This is used when there are irregularities on the corneal map:

  • People who have had LASIK before and still have some prescription
  • People who have had LASIK after previous cataract surgery, corneal transplantation or pterygium surgery
  • People with asymmetric astigmatism

Wavefront-Guided LASIK

Wavefront analysis detects defects in the eye called “aberrations” that reduce the quality of vision. If this analysis finds a high level of aberrations, wavefront-guided LASIK is used.

Custom-Q LASIK

Custom-Q LASIK is used in people who have problems with the quality of their vision arising from the optical properties of the cornea, even though their corneal topography and wavefront analysis are normal.
